"The Biggest Loser Meal Plan has done wonders for me… It's literally been the backbone of my success!"
When Adam first got back home after leaving The Biggest Loser ranch, he realized he was in for a shock. "Just because things changed for us very quickly on the ranch … we couldn't have expected that our entire family had gone through that change as quickly as we did."
So, back in the real world, all his old temptations naturally came back into play. Getting back to regular family life was a big transition from the ranch, especially having easy access to unhealthy things in the cupboard and fast food again. "It was tough," he says. "Probably the hardest thing -- maybe even harder than being on the ranch and going through those workouts!"
Everything got a lot easier when The Biggest Loser Meal Plan arrived at his door."The Biggest Loser Meal Plan has done wonders for me," Adam says. "It made the nutritional part of this journey so much easier, so much more manageable to know meals were coming to my house. And they are extremely delicious!
"I saw a huge change in my weight loss. I have been replicating some of the numbers I had on the ranch. I saw the direct correlation immediately.
It's literally been the backbone to my success!"
How much of a success? Since being home,
Adam has lost an additional 102 lbs. in just 19 weeks by including the Biggest Loser Meal Plan as part of his continued weight-loss strategy!
Before The Biggest Loser, Adam was working a dead-end job that he was not really interested in. He would go to work, come home and pay the bills. He was just getting the day-to-day stuff done, but he says he knew he was "not reaching my full potential as a person due to my enormous obesity."
He says he was holding himself back, lacking confidence because of his weight. He tried to lose weight on his own and with the support of his family, but unfortunately, he says, like so many others, he was always looking for the next best fad diet.
Adam tried it all, desperately seeking the "magic pill" that would change his life. He'd see temporary success, and then gain it all back.
The moment it all clicked for Adam, the moment he knew he needed to change his ways, was when his Mom passed away. On July 1, 2009, Nancy Hurtado died due to obesity-related complications.
Adam says none of the family ever saw her as suffering from obesity because she never seemed to let it slow her down. Full of energy, she set out to accomplish everything she put her mind to. But her passing made Adam see that
it was time he did something to break the chain of diabetes, heart disease and obesity in his family he needed to make this change.
The Biggest Loser Ranch gave him the start towards the permanent change he needed. The incredible support and the holistic approach they took to weight loss helped Adam to not only learn the basics about nutrition and fitness, but he says they "attacked the weight-loss battle from so many different aspects; they really turned the light on for me."
By the time Adam left the ranch, he'd lost an amazing 80 lbs. and gained a ton of confidence and a positive outlook on his life. Then,
with The Biggest Loser Meal Plan, he continued with his weight-loss success, dropping an additional 102 lbs. -- for a total of 182 lbs. of weight loss by the show finale!
Losing the weight has also brought Adam closer to his brother, who was also a major source or motivation and inspiration for him. He was the "lucky one"in the family who didn't seem to fight with obesity, Adam says. "I always felt bad that he would leave the house to go workout and I was never able to participate in that. Now we're almost at the same weight, we have the same level of energy and we can go and workout together. We're closer than we've ever been. He's wanted this for me for his entire life; he's so happy and excited for me!"
"My heart is soaring; I have a new level of confidence. The opportunity to inspire people has given my life great purpose now."Well, Adam has certainly inspired us, and we know he's inspired many of you. Congratulations Adam! We are so proud of you!
