Starting Weight on The Biggest Loser Show: 277 lbs.
Starting Weight on The Biggest Loser Meal Plan: 186 lbs.
Current Weight: 180 lbs.


"I had to let go of the belief that 'Hey I'm 50, weight gain comes with age, health issues come with age. So I had to let go of that belief that I couldn't do those things. I also had to let go of what other people thought, when they thought that I couldn't do it. I've never been active, no muscle memory at all - I had to let go of those perceptions from myself and of other people that said "I can't do that." If I hadn't let go of all of that, I wouldn't have made it to the end."

 


 

For many years, Cherita had been putting herself last - last behind her husband, her children, her home and her career. So when Cherita, at the age of 50, first started on her weight loss journey with The Biggest Loser show, her main motivation was to help her daughter Victoria to lose weight. "I thought I was ok until I discovered very brutally that I really was not fit."


Cherita had an eye opening experience her first day on the ranch when they told her she had to ride a 26.2 mile marathon. When she got on the bike, she was determined to make it because she wanted so much to help her daughter Victoria. Then she went down at mile 17 and had to leave the show. Cherita remembers: "The brutal fact is that as much as I wanted to help my daughter, I was not physically able to help her. It struck me how many people really want to help a loved one…if YOU aren't physically able, who's going to take care of them? It was a huge wake-up call and kept me going every single day. And I had stood in front of friends and family and said - Failure is not an option- and I meant it. Once I came to that realization, my goal was not a weight number but my overall goal was to become fit."


By the Biggest Loser finale, Cherita had lost 91 lbs. What is really remarkable is that Cherita never spent even one night on the Biggest Loser Ranch! She achieved this amazing transformation completely at home. Now she regularly runs several miles and is in the best shape of her life. Cherita will even be running a 10K in July.


Of the Biggest Loser Meal Plan by eDiets, Cherita says: "It would have really helped me to have a program like this while I was going through the competition because one of the biggest factors in success is preparation. While I was trying to lose weight at home, on Sundays I would spend HOURS cooking for the whole week. In her first 3 weeks on the Biggest Loser Meal Plan by eDiets, Cherita lost 5 lbs!


"What I like best? The convenience and the taste of the food… but really the convenience, because I think without preparation you fail, and this really addresses that issue. If you get hungry and you don't have food, you're going to eat whatever is there, whether it's the right thing or not. The thing that excites me about it - the food is there when I open the fridge, it's there so I don't have to cheat, I don't sabotage because I didn't have time to plan and prepare.
