Jay:
Biggest Loser Season 11
Starting Weight on The Biggest Loser Show: 400 lbs.
Starting Weight on The Biggest Loser Meal Plan: 308 lbs.
Current Weight: 219 lbs.
" I like the The Biggest Loser Meals because I know that I always have them there … I try to prepare things that are fresh, but the reality is, especially when you're home, it just doesn't always work time–wise. I like that I have a healthy solution at my fingertips, waiting for me."
Jay shared with us that his weight has been an issue his entire life, but with his highest weight soaring to 435 pounds, he says he really took the weight gain to a new level as an adult.
" Food really became my drug of choice," he says. " It was what I would turn to to make me feel good … I emotionally ate. I worked hard all day and then come dinner time I would eat everything under the sun and always end my day with cookies and milk."
Once he arrived at the ranch, Jay explained that despite knowing he was severely overweight at 400 pounds, he felt as though he was pretty healthy. It turns out that Jay was actually extremely high risk and almost didn't make it on the show after doctors discovered a potentially fatal heart arrhythmia and severe sleep apnea.
Jay was first ousted from the ranch after losing 92 pounds. He returned home for a short period of time, which is when he first received The Biggest Loser Meal Plan.
" When I was introduced to The Biggest Loser Meal Plan, I knew that it was
approved by The Biggest Loser experts, so I knew I didn't have to worry about whether it was nutritionally sound or not," he says. " I knew it was good for me because what they endorse and support obviously helps people."
With the help of a lot of exercise and The Biggest Loser Meal Plan,
Jay lost an additional 21 pounds during the short period he was home. Jay returned to the Ranch at 287 pounds and while there, shed another 45 pounds.
Coming home from the ranch the second time, this time as a Biggest Loser Finalist, the stakes are really on the line. Jay explains that he loves food, but one of the biggest shifts he's noticed is the connection between the time and effort of exercising and the value of his food choices.
" I'm a foodie… I will always treasure and love great food," he admits. " I've got to have food that tastes good and satiates my appetite and that truly fuels my body. When I work out, I don't feel like I want to waste that time on empty calories or on something that doesn't help me."
Whatever he's doing is paying off. Since coming home from the Ranch for the second time, Jay's lost another 12 pounds for a
total at–home weight loss of 33 pounds — and still going!*
" I think that it's a really good program for someone to have because it is Biggest Loser approved and the portions are good. I' m quite frankly surprised – they taste really good for being so low in calories," Jays says.
" They taste good… There's good texture and crunch and variety… I love the variety and the fact that I have that safety net that' s always there for me when I'm tired or just want the ease and convenience. I don't have to worry about it, and I can feel good about the choices!"
Coming from a real " foodie," I think we'll take that endorsement!
