"…you don't need to be on the ranch to lose the weight."

In high school, I was an athletic student with healthy eating habits. However, my lifestyle changed dramatically once I went off to college. As I focused on my college studies, I focused less on eating healthy foods, gave up playing softball and ultimately I became a "stress eater." I was also in a relationship where food was the focus. I gained 80 pounds in my freshman year. I gave up after that. I was depressed, and I filled the voids in my life with food.

Normally a very private person, I came to a turning point in my life shortly after my relationship ended. I thought, "I'll be unhappy and alone if I don't do something about my weight." The Biggest Loser was holding auditions for Season 11 in Pittsburgh. I decided that even if I have to embarrass myself, I have to get some help. I'm killing myself at this unhealthy weight, if I don't make this choice. I might as well try it. So I auditioned and made it to Season 12.

Ironically, one of the biggest things I learned while on The Biggest Loser Ranch was that you don't need to be on the ranch to lose the weight. It's mind-boggling that I had to do all this to realize it is simply about diet and exercise.

Especially now that I am back at work, the Biggest Loser Meal Plan is very helpful. It helps me with planning for each day. I have to pre-plan my meals to be successful and, with The Biggest Loser Meal Plan, this is already done for me so I can just grab them and take them to work.

The food is very satisfying. The meal plan is about portion control above anything else, and it's perfect for those who find it hard to learn moderation and control. You almost can't fail when it is set up for you the way The Biggest Loser Meal Plan does. It's the right amount of nutrition you need for the day. Since I have been home from the ranch and using the meal plan, I've lost an additional 16 pounds and counting!

For those people who may be where I was - I want you to know that you can be happy! My confidence level has increased. I want to go bungee jumping, rock climbing and do all those things that I wasn't fit enough to do before. I feel awesome. I am so incredibly happy the way I am now.

Originally my goal was to weigh 154 pounds. Now, it is not necessarily about reaching a number, but more about how I am feeling, about having the energy I need and about how my clothes fit - any weight I lose now will just be like cherries on top!

You can do it. You have to want to do it for yourself. You have to be able to say "I am here for me - not here for my mom, dad or boyfriend. I am ready to change my life." You have to want to do it for you. Write down what's important to you and why it's important to lose the weight. Is it for you? What is your life like now and what will it be like when you lose the weight? Once you realize you want to do it for the right reasons, you will be successful. It's about planning and taking small steps towards little goals that will get you to that happy place in life.
