Shanna:
Biggest Loser Season 10
Starting Weight on The Biggest Loser Show: 242 lbs.
Starting Weight on The Biggest Loser Meal Plan: 217 lbs.
Current Weight: 193 lbs.
"The Biggest Loser Meal Plan provides the convenience of having the right portions and nutrition to help me lose the weight. It helps me so that I can still be a good mom and eat right.", Shanna says. "It's not like regular diet food — it's a lot better quality, with less sodium and good variety, so I am not just eating the same old things every day. My favorite is the Chicken Meatball Stroganoff. I would definitely recommend this plan if you want to lose weight."
Shanna is a busy working mom with four boys and a career as a teacher. The last couple of years have been very difficult for her and her family as she was battling breast cancer. While Shanna admits that she was overweight before she was diagnosed with cancer, some of her treatment actually contributed to further weight gain. She was taking steroids and travelling four hours away to receive treatment which thankfully saved her life, but also left her weak and unable to do a lot of physical activity. Shanna found the motivation to change her life when her doctors told her that carrying excess weight increased the odds of the cancer recurring. Shanna's powerful words were "I can't control getting cancer, but I can control my weight. I can take back control of my life. I was determined to do it. I refused to give up."
And so Shanna's Biggest Loser journey began. She competed for a spot in Season 10, but unfortunately did not make it to the ranch. Instead, Shanna had to do the work of losing weight at home. She got a great start at The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge and then started using The Biggest Loser Meal Plan by eDiets.
Since starting to receive The Biggest Loser Meal Plan at home, Shanna has lost 24 lbs! "The Biggest Loser Meal Plan has allowed me to spend more time with my family while I lose the weight at home. I feel really empowered, knowing that I am so much more active. I got my life back.", Shanna says.
She certainly has! Shanna is enjoying time with her family, shuttling her boys to football games, working out and somehow she found the time to participate in a truly worthwhile event — the Susan G. Komen walk. Shanna completed the 62 mile walk in 3 days. She proudly states that she walked every step and in the process raised $2,300 for this cause.
Her advice to anyone who wants to lose weight? "Keep living and change the things you know you have to change; diet, exercise and attitude."
